The Willwoods Community is a Catholic non-profit organization and foundation founded in 1979 by married couples desiring to serve the Greater New Orleans Community through prayer and service.

Towards this goal, the Community purchased in 1992 two affordable income apartment buildings with (186) units. Willwoods purchased and renovated three additional housing complexes with (180) units. The Community acquired five apartment complexes from the Archdiocese of New Orleans for a total of (968) units.

The Board of the Community, realizing the tremendous need for elderly housing services, bought and developed the former Eucharistic Missionaries of St. Dominic Convent into (118) unit assisted care living residence called Malta Park. Sacred Heart School and Convent was later converted to (56) independent living apartments and (52) assisted living units called Malta Square.

In addition to its elderly and affordable housing efforts, the Community owns and operates public broadcasting station, WLAE-TV Channel 32 New Orleans. Willwoods also offers a number of faith and marriage enrichment programs to the community.

The Board of the Community is comprised of active community leaders of the Greater New Orleans area. Mr. and Mrs. Paul A. Nalty Chair the Community. Rev. Thomas Chambers C. S. C is the President of Willwoods.
